When you can't afford to pay the medical costs of a loved one, what do you do?
In Pakistan, the poorest people take a loan from the brick-kiln owners and sign a contract to pay off the loan by working at the kiln. Quickly they find that they are unable to earn enough to cover their expenses and loan-interest. So they remain trapped, working 14 hours a day, seven days a week for the rest of their lives.
Freeslaves is an organisation run by my friend Geoff Woodcock and his partners in Pakistan, helping to free these families indebted to the kilns.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Bonded-labor slavery is the world's most common form of slavery. It generally happens when a medical emergency forces someone to take a loan on the condition that they work for the lender to pay back the loan. They then find that the interest rate ensures that repayment is virtually impossible, and the person and their family becomes trapped and exploited. Global reviews of modern slavery estimate that half of the 25 million bonded-labor slaves are children. Slavery is a complex crisis, which needs responses on many levels. At freeslaves.org, we work at the grassroots to pay the debts of bonded-labor slaves and restore them a life of freedom and economic security. Why do we do it? We believe that all people are designed for love, and that in order to truly love, we need to be free. It's that simple.

ABOUT SNOWBOARDERS & SKIERS FOR CHRIST
The ski and snowboard culture is spiritually dark and the effects of the community’s embrace of sin is evidenced in high substance abuse and addiction rates, mental health crises, disjointed transient communities and heartbreaking suicide rates. We want to see the light of Jesus changing lives and making communities whole!
We believe God’s Word calls us to find our identity in Jesus, to engage people within our culture through genuine, loving relationships and to do selfless acts for others as we share the Gospel message.
Our Mission is to B.R.I.D.G.E. the ski and snowboard culture to Jesus, partnering with the local Church.
WHAT DOES SFC DO?
The million dollar question is, “So..what does SFC actually do?” We’re glad you asked!
The first thing to know is that SFC is a values-based organization as opposed to a programs-based organization. This means that SFC looks different in every shred town because each SFC Leader responds to the needs of their own unique communities.
SFCers unite under and live out the B.R.I.D.G.E. Values and rely on God’s leading to plan what will most effectively shine the light of Jesus to the shredders in their area.
Since we define SFC by our values as opposed to what events we put on, the SFC Support Office provides values-based tools and resources to help our leaders effectively be a light on the hill and reach their community through projects, relationships, and events.
Our actions, decisions and daily lives are shaped by the person of Jesus. We stand on the shoulders of generations of incredible men and women in the Christian tradition. In our Statement of Faith, we abide by the old saying “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.”
